Azuay is a province located in southern Ecuador with Cuenca as its capital city. Cuenca is known for its historic architecture, museums, and cultural festivals. It is also home to the University of Cuenca, one of the oldest and largest universities in Ecuador. The province is largely agricultural with crops such as corn, wheat, and barley being grown in the highlands and sugarcane, bananas, and coffee being grown in the lowlands. The province is home to several natural attractions including Cajas National Park, which has over 200 lakes, and the Rio Tomebamba, a scenic river that runs through Cuenca.
